The Fourth of July weekend brought camping at the farm with John, Kari, Payton and Finley. The weather was beautiful until Sunday when we packed up and came home before it started raining. We burned lots of wood at the campfire and there were the traditional fireworks (thanks to John) and sparklers.

Camping always seems to bring a set of new stories (memories) in our family. Friday we sat around the fire and again on Saturday night, but for some reason on Saturday night we noticed bats flying around that we didn't notice on Friday night. Didn't know we had bats at the farm. Kari and I decided we needed to double check the outhouse for hanging critters before we went in. Our outhouse is primitive but serves the purpose. Sitting inside is a plastic coffee can with solution to occasionally pour into the hole for "control". Kari went to use the outhouse, "remember look for bats" and much to her surpise sitting on the lid of the coffee can was a mouse. Of course her presence scared the mouse to move from the top of the coffee can, climb the stud and when John when to check it out the mouse was quietly sitting on the ledge of a rafter. John took a picture, which I can't share with you here, not that you'd want to see it.

This morning when I went to use the facility I kicked the door to scare off any creatures that might be inside, all clear for use. You gotta love the stories we'll be sharing in the future when once again we're sitting around the campfire.
